The hotel is located in Hohenschangau Village, at the top of a steep hill, just below the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

Named after the daughter of its first owner, the Schosshotel Lisl enjoys a fairytale setting below the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. A traditional, Bavarian-style property, it contains 35 standard guestrooms: 27 double rooms, 6 single rooms and 2 corner rooms. Some rooms have a view of Hohenschwangau or Neuschwanstein castle; only the two large, wood-panelled corner rooms have a view of both. Irrespective of size or layout, the rooms are decorated in a fairly sober but pleasant style, with cream walls and dark wood furnishings. They are all clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. In the morning, there’s a bountiful and delicious breakfast buffet on offer in the "King Ludwig Salon," which allows guests to start the day cheerfully and with energy. At noon they can eat "à la carte" in the "Wirtshaus Königliche Jagdstube," which is a rustic, hunting parlour-style venue, serving a number of local and Bavarian dishes. In the evening, romantic "à la carte" dinners are available in the elegant "Wittelsbacher" restaurant, with magnificent view to both illuminated castles.
